Guest of Honor Speech

Mr. Thomas M.F. Yates PSM
Consul-General and Trade Commisnioner, Australian Consulate-General in Fukuoka

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Mayor Takashima and everyone involved for your invitation to this wonderful event.

In Australia, where one in four citizens were born overseas, we have a multiethnic and multicultural environment. With one in five university students coming from overseas, high quality education and the provision of services are guaranteed by the Australian government at all educational organisations that accept international students.

In a survey conducted several years ago on overseas students who studied in Australia, about 90 percent of the respondents said that their experience in Australia was highly valued and that they could find employment at a company they wished to work for.

I hope that international students participating in today’s event will play active roles and succeed as global talents.

Ms. Zhang Mei
Deputy Consul-General, Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Fukuoka

On behalf of the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Fukuoka, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations on convening the Global Community Fukuoka event.

Fukuoka City is a very livable city, and many Chinese students are studying in Fukuoka. A former Chinese student who has just started his own business also joins today’s event. I hope that thanks to today’s event, not only he but many more Chinese students will strengthen their ties to Fukuoka City and serve as a bridge between China and Japan.

Finally, I would like to offer my best wishes for the success of this event and for your good health and prosperity.

Mr. Yoon Hee Chan
Consul, Consulate-General of the Republic of Korea in Fukuoka

I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations on convening the Global Community Fukuoka today and express my appreciation to the Mayor of Fukuoka City and everyone involved for all your support and efforts.

In recent years, due to the globalization of the Japanese economy, Japanese companies are rapidly expanding into Asia and other overseas markets, and their demand for global talents is growing. I hope that today’s event, Global Community Fukuoka, will be a valuable opportunity for obtaining the latest information about global talents Japanese companies demand and that it will be helpful for international students’ future lives.

Finally, I would like to offer my best wishes for your good health and happiness.

Mr. Ha Viet Anh
Consul, Consulate-General of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam in Fukuoka

I would like to express my sincere gratitude for this opportunity to extend my greetings for the opening of the Global Community Fukuoka.

This event is a very valuable opportunity for international students, local companies, diplomatic offices in the city and Fukuoka City to enhance interactions among us. I hope that through these opportunities, the relationship between local companies and international students as well as Fukuoka City and various countries and areas in the world will be strengthened further.

Finally, I would like to offer my best wishes for the success of today’s event and your future success and health. I hope that these types of events will continue to be held in the future.

Mr. Dominic So
Consul for Management and Concular Affairs, Consulate of the United States in Fukuoka

I would like to express my gratitude for your invitation to Global Community Fukuoka today.

I believe that some of the international students here are new to Fukuoka City. I also just arrived in Fukuoka City in July this year, but I have already been won over by the kindness of the locals who offer a warm welcome to foreigners. I believe that most international students feel the same way as I do. I sincerely hope that you will find a job in Fukuoka after graduation and make many friends here.

Finally, I would like to offer my best wishes for the success of today’s event and for your health and prosperity.
