Who can get vaccinated and points to note

Vaccination is available to Fukuoka residents aged between 6 months old and 4 years old.
The Pfizer's infants' COVID-19 vaccine adapted to the omicron XBB.1.5 is used from Tuesday October 3. (Click here for more information on the vaccine.)

Intervals between doses for the infant vaccination doses are different:
The 2nd dose will be given 3 weeks after the 1st dose.
The 3rd dose will be given 8 weeks or more after the 2nd dose.
⚠ A course of 3 doses constitutes initial vaccination for infants.
⚠ Your child will be given the omicron XBB.1.5 vaccine as their 2nd dose onward even if their 1st dose was of a conventional type of the COVID-19 vaccine.
⚠ Your child will be given the omicron XBB.1.5 vaccine as their 3rd dose even if their 2nd dose was of a conventional type of the COVID-19 vaccine.

⚠ The infant vaccines used for children aged between 6 months old and 4 years old, children’s vaccines used for children aged 5 – 11 years old, and adult vaccines for people aged 12 or older are different types of vaccines in terms of dosage and delivery.
⚠ The COVID-19 vaccine can be given at the same time as the flu vaccine. However, for any vaccines other than the flu vaccine, you must leave a 2-week interval between your child’s COVID-19 vaccination and the other vaccine.

If your child turns 5 years old before they have received 3 doses of the vaccine:

Please beware that the vaccines given to 4-year olds and those to 5-year olds are different vaccines. If it is an infant vaccine that your child receives for their 1st dose, they will continue to receive the infant vaccine for their 2nd and 3rd doses even if they turn 5 years old before the completion of the COVID vaccination program.
⚠ Your child can receive the 1st dose of the infant vaccine until two days before their 5th birthday.

Cost of vaccination

Free of charge

When to get the vaccination ticket

Vaccination tickets will be sent to all residents aged between 6 months old and 4 years old.
⚠ Vaccination tickets for residents who will be turning 6 months old will be sent in the middle of the month after they have turned 6 months old.

We will first send the vaccination tickets and pre-vaccination questionnaires for your child’s 1st and 2nd doses only. Once your child completes their 1st dose of the vaccination, the city will confirm their records and send out their 3rd dose vaccination ticket and pre-vaccination questionnaire accordingly.
⚠ If your child is a Fukuoka resident but has received the COVID-19 vaccination outside of Fukuoka City, their 3rd dose vaccination ticket cannot be sent out automatically after their 1st dose vaccination as it will take time to check their records. Please call the COVID-19 Vaccination Ticket and Certification Call Center (092-753-9455) to ask for the 3rd dose vaccination ticket to be sent to you.

Click here to go to the Fukuoka City website to apply for your child’s 1st or 2nd vaccination ticket if you have recently moved into Fukuoka City, or your child has been vaccinated overseas or in a clinical trial, or you have lost their vaccination ticket.

Where to get vaccinated

Vaccination will take place at regional pediatric hospitals and clinics. (All areas)
⚠ No vaccination is available to infants between Wednesday September 20 and Monday October 2. Click here for more information.

⚠ Infants aged between 6 months old and 4 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian when getting vaccinated.
⚠ If a parent or guardian cannot accompany their child to their vaccination appointment for unavoidable reasons, they can delegate other family members who are familiar with the child’s health conditions to accompany them with a letter of authorization from the child’s parent or guardian.
