Fukuoka purports to become an international convention center, and has hosted numerous international events from sporting events such as the 2001 World Aquatics Championships, to economic and academic conferences. An event still fresh in our minds is the International Youth Conference in 2004 and Assembly of International Political Science Association in 2006. Fukuoka boasts flawless conference facilities and multi-purpose venues like the Fukuoka International Conference Hall, and Fukuoka Marine Messe, each a suitable location for activities of various scales in diverse fields.
In order to enhance cooperative efforts with other Asian countries, Fukuoka is promoting international business by hosting business conferences and supporting foreign direct investments of local enterprises. By developing human resources, attracting both domestic and international investments, stimulating its business functions, and maximizing its economic potential, Fukuoka will be actively engaged in introducing both domestic and international enterprises in IT and semiconductor industries.
