Fukuoka has been devoted to creating more opportunities where residents can experience culture and art. Fukuoka Art Museum mainly exhibits modern art, as well as ancient pieces related to the Kuroda family. Fukuoka Asian Art Museum is the world’s only art gallery specializing in exhibitions of modern Asian artworks. The annual Focus on Asia - Fukuoka International Film Festival was first established in 1991, and shows great films from various Asian countries.
