Fukuoka Asian Art Museum is the world’s only art gallery specializing in exhibitions of modern Asian artworks. Fukuoka City Museum exhibits historical relics, such as the Gold Seal excavated from Shikanoshima Island, as well as exhibitions on the culture and history of Fukuoka. Hakata-za Theater, a theater co-founded by persons from administrative, economic, and entertainment backgrounds, runs colorful performances including kabuki, musicals, and plays. Moreover, Fukuoka Asian Art Museum regularly invites Asian artists, researchers, and apprentices to hold artist-in-residence and other various projects, such as communication projects and creative activities.
