City Development Incorporating the Sea and History

City Development Incorporating the Sea, History, and Inherited Rich Nature and Landscapes

Fukuoka is making an effort to protect its abundant natural resources and to preserve its local forests and seascape, while at the same time busily constructing more coastal recreational facilities, such as water parks, and natural promenades. Along the coast of Hakata Bay, numerous natural and cultural spots can be found. On Shikanoshima Island, where the Gold Seal was excavated, delicious seafood is abundant. On Uminonakamichi, where the narrow peninsula connects Shikanoshima Island with Fukuoka, the natural landscape is well preserved. State-owned Uminonakamichi Seaside Park, Marine World Uminonakamichi, and the Gannosu Recreation Center with its baseball field and tennis courts can be found here as well.
