Please accept my sincere apologies for the troubles and great inconvenience caused by the subway construction ordered by Fukuoka City Government.
At 5 AM on November 15, the affected road has been reopened to traffic, and all entry restrictions applied on surrounding buildings have been lifted off. We were able to complete the restoration at great speed with safety as our top priority, without inducing secondary damages. This was made possible by the united efforts of the government and all parties involved in the construction. I offer my most utmost appreciation to everyone’s effort from the bottom of my heart.
From now on, we will put tremendous efforts in investigating the cause of the accident and in compensating damages. The investigation has to be verified by a third party. Therefore, we have asked the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for its cooperation. As for compensations, the City, with Taisei Corporation and its joint ventures, contractor for this subway construction, will set up a telephone help line for those who have been affected by the accident. We are also in the process of considering all methods of compensations, including provisional payments.
As we work towards complete restoration, we may continue to cause great inconvenience upon everyone. I humbly ask for your understanding and cooperation.
Mayor of Fukuoka City
